Ever so grateful

This picture was taken when I was on my way to work. Okay, so it's not advisable to take pics while driving alright kids?

Saw an Indian couple riding a motorbike, the wife was holding the square thingy tightly, that thing was probably a bit loose. There were 3 kids wearing preschool uniforms sitting on that square thingy and they were looking at the cars. The kid at the back (you can see from the picture) was staring at me the whole time. Probably wishing he was in the car instead of where he was at that time. And it broke my heart to pieces looking at this family, and compared them to myself, who wouldn't stop complaining about this and that. I felt like He sent the family to me, so that I would be more grateful with my life and what I have, which are way much more fortunate than the family in front of me. Sometimes we tend to forget the things He had given us, like the simplest thing such as food, the air we breathe, waking up in the morning. We often notice the things which we don't have, and start saying that life is unfair and continue whining and complaining.

Gratitude shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present. Always make a practice of imagining yourself losing something which you often take for granted, for example your home, job, your hearing, It's good to compare yourself with those who possess things which you lack as it builds the will to put extra effort so that you would gain what you are currently lacking. But most of us seldom or fail to do is comparing ourselves to the people who are less fortunate than us. That is why most people are not as grateful as they should be.

Once you become more focused on looking things to be grateful for, you will begin to appreciate the simplest pleasures and things that you have long took for granted. Today, let's promise ourselves to bring gratitude to our everyday routine and may we find comfort in our hearts.

Quoting Meister Eckhart, "If the only prayer you say in your life is 'thank you', that would suffice".
